Haiku from August & early September 2010
sly smile at midnight / invitation or challenge / demure advances
mote glints, rising up / languid drift of soft shadow / cat rises, stretching
cream swirls on the surface / mug set down, laps ceramic / grey drifts, transparent
when I weave a spell / you still listen and respond / tattooed memory
Yet information passes
We stalk each other
Intent encrypted
Longing, rebuke, reprimand
in passing comments
Agendas obscured
kinder emotions denied
Unlike: ignore, block

Haiku from 11 July
in between unspoken words
waiting for his response
summer of her discontent
stifling stifled shrieks
the plates hit the wall
wary circling, dodging shards
to get to the fridge
domestic warfare
lull in the hostilities
uneasy detente
endless appointments at the
unbeauty parlor
bandaid camouflage
weary of caustic damage
a limping exit
Haiku from June 18th
start small and careful
offer simple images
water in cupped palms
intimacy there
how you cup my hands to drink
your mouth to my palms
---
snowflake kisses drift
perfect stars melt in my mouth
and on my raised face
---
Incorrigible
Mad flirt tells me my charms
I encourage him
when you talk to me
air becomes eroticized
caress by proxy
slaked and slaked again
unquenchable appetite
rises phoenix-like
-----on the beach in no moonlight
the sea and I lap at her shell body
her breathing in time with the tides
salt and musk combined
Absorbed on her skin
Erotic alchemy
sand in uncomfortable places
He feeds the machines
She pairs and folds
Next load started
Off to Starbucks for coffee
Back to load dryer
Damp clothes in baskets
Bra straps trail over the edge
Couldn't take the heat

A couple of sonnets, in response to a challenge on Facebook
Matutineal
My rising sons bang on my door: Wake up
Mom, we're hungry, can we have choc'late spread?
The daughter clamors for hair and makeup
At 9, by girly fashion she is led
The youngest comes, pacifier in hand
Yawning, pajamaed, though loud, yet still sweet
With strong opinions and many demands,
Wishes, commands, one is kept on one's feet
Mad dash to the fridge, a roar through the door
Lunches in hand, sweeps the maddening horde
To school they go, in a state I deplore
With this lot around, one ís never bored.
Quell the morning chaos - make order out of dis-
Kicking/screaming/swearing -not a moment would I miss.
oops, I did it again:
Impromptu
Not a freaking English major, I count
Syllables on my fingers, for haiku
Or sonnets, trying to capture and mount
Imagery, a moment, not to lie, true
To the muse, to the rhythm, words hardcore
Tender emotions or graphic passion
I catch, always wanting to attain more
Sarcastic endeavor - always in fashion.
I paint with words like I knit, cook and draw
Colour, texture, flavour, tweaking meaning
Wanting to shock, get the 'awww', hit you raw
And then, smug, give my brushes a cleaning.
I diss you not, I give you my respect
Take a step back, and ponder the effect.

Blogaroni
Ok, I'll do it. I'll put my toe (in mouth) in the blogpond (and what -hope that it creates some interesting ripples? Maybe...)
Right. I'll put my iggerant opinions out there. What'll I write about? I believe that calls for a bulleted list:
Duh, knitting.
Duh, being a mom.
Duh, being a working mom.
Duh, living in Israel.
Duh, having gone from being a Peace Corps Volunteer (with much liberal gusto) to an eVul-Settler-Obstacle-to-Peace-in-the-Middle-East, who now swings more to the right.
Duh, having gone from secular to religiously orthodox observant (chozeret b'tlunah, kicking, screaming, and kvetching all the way.)
Duh, not "getting" politics, economics, or statistics.
Duh, music, science, hand-creative stuff like knitting, sewing, and arty thangs, like that.
Duh, love of language.
Duh, whatever pops into my brain and out through the keyboard and publishes itself? No no no...
